Querétaro attracts more aerospace investment

Given the growth of the aerospace industry, manufacturers of industrial buildings for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) have new projects in the pipeline; specifically at the Queretaro state airport, where Bombardier and Kuo Aerospace, General Electric (GE), Sames (Snecma America Engine Services), among other companies, are located.

Luis M. Barreiro Hernández, director of the marketing area of Grupo GMI (Sistemas Modernos de Construcción) explained that the works to be carried out will cover 6,000 to 8,000 square meters, which represents "investments for medium-term return. Obviously this generates the hiring of labor in the localities where the industrial buildings are being built. This generates an economic spillover.

One of the strategic plans of the brands is to provide more MROs for the domestic market, he said in an interview with Vanguardia Industrial. Currently one was made in the eastern platform in this city for AeroMéxico and several important projects will be uncovered for the city of Querétaro whose investment for each project ranges above 10 million dollars (mdd).

The competitive advantage of this company is "our prefabricated systems and our three-dimensional systems". He said that due to these characteristics, the construction of the projects takes less time.

This company, whose portfolio of clients includes AeroMéxico, is Mexican and was founded in 1958. In addition to the aerospace market, it covers the housing and education markets, as well as department stores.

"This company began by making prefabricated materials to build houses. As time went by, it began to innovate in technology and its market began to expand. We currently serve the educational area with classrooms and multilevel buildings. The commercial area with department stores and supermarkets, plazas, etc.," he said.

The aerospace sector is growing in Latin America and has a presence in Central America. With Brazil, contacts are beginning to be established

"We serve these industries with MROs and FBOs, which are large hangars for aircraft maintenance," said Barreiro Hernandez after noting that the company built the largest MRO in Latin America in El Salvador.
