Holcim Apasco invests $700 million pesos to renew itself

With an investment of 700million pesos, the cement company Holcim Apasco will change its name to Holcim México and improve its assets.

To modify its image and corporate name, the company will allocate 200 million pesos, while it will channel another 500 million pesos to improve its assets, informed Eduardo Kretschemer, CEO of the Mexican construction production sector company, at a press conference.

Kretschemer said that the $500 million pesos earmarked for asset renewal will be used to replace equipment in its plants, as well as to improve its operations in order to be more competitive.

The executive said that the outlook for the construction industry is currently good, so Holcim México is ready to capitalize on the sector 's opportunities in the future.

According to the source, in the last 10 years the company has invested more than US$2 billion in expanding its installed capacity in the country, which will enable it to meet marketdemand over the next few years.

Holcim Apasco -now Holcim Mexico- is a subsidiary of the Swiss Holcim Group, recognized in the cement industry worldwide.

Last March, Gustavo Gastelum Gómez, Holcim Apasco's Director of External Relations and Communications, said that Mexico consumes an average of 35 million tons of cement, of which 40% is used for housing (60% for self-construction and 40% for industrialized housing), while the other 40% is used for infrastructure works.
