Stellantis: "Optimism For The Mexican Automotive Sector."

Opportunities for Italy in Mexico continue to grow, considering the shift in nearshoring to North America-specifically Mexico.

Mexico is a center of manufacturing excellence in the automotive sector. Stellantis produces and exports about 450 thousand vehicles a year, and the idea is to grow in production, volumes and exports, not only to the United States, but also to other parts of the world, because the country has unique elements: cost competitiveness, quality and a very sophisticated workforce."

According to information provided by the Mexican subsidiary, "almost 100 million cars are produced per year, and a good part of them will convert to the electric mode very quickly, especially in the central markets of the planet. The production site of many of them will change, and Mexico has every opportunity to attract these investments and grow from 3.2 million units produced per year to much higher figures. This is what we are looking for in Stellantis. Mexico's goal right now should not be to sell electric cars domestically, but to have them produced on its territory and thus expand its capacity in the automotive industry."

The 3.2 million vehicles produced in Mexico today will become electric over time. Over the next 3 years Stellantis plans a gradual transition, as 98 percent of production is exported and the main target market is the United States, which will advance electrification.
