Italian Technology Award Programs in Mexico
The Italian Trade Agency Office in Mexico City hands out the Italian Plastic Technology Award and the Italian Packaging Technology Award. The project aims to create a link between graduates and undergraduates in engineering programs at leading Mexican universities, and to increase their awareness of leading technology and solutions available in Italian plastics and packaging machinery.

Each award had been organized alongside its respective Italian industry association: ASSOCOMAPLAST (the Italian Plastics and Rubber Processing Machinery and Moulds Manufacturers’ Association, www.assocomaplast.org), and UCIMA (Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association, www.ucima.it). The respective local associations and academic partners for the programs are Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) https://www.uanl.mx/, Asociación Mexicana de Empaque y Embalaje (AMEE) http://www.amee.org.mx/, Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP) https://upaep.mx// , and Asociación Nacional de Industrias del Plástico (ANIPAC) www.anipac.com/.

The ITA’s objective is to promote the excellence of Italian plastic and packaging machinery in the world and to encourage the establishment of business relationships and collaborations with international partners. Given the success of Italian rubber and plastic producing machines in Mexico, the Italian Trade Agency in Mexico City organizes the Italian Plastic Technology Award together with the University UPAEP of Puebla, which provides technological insights on the optimization of injection molding and extrusion processes, which have received substantial investments from the automotive industry in the state of Puebla, as well as across the country. These initiatives are supported by Plastics Centers (CESAT) facilities which rely on installed Italian machinery for various plastic production processes.

Award-winning students and faculty from the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, India, Iran and Egypt took part in an educational program at Università Carlo Cattaneo (LIUC) in Varese, Italy, and visited leading Italian machinery manufacturers. In addition to company tours and discussions with industry managers, the ITA award programs have also offered an international advanced engineering program with the Polytechnic University of Milan.
