FUNDIEXPO 2016
ICE-Agenzia , in collaboration with Amafond, the Italian Association of Suppliers of Machinery, Products and Services for Foundry, organized the participation of an Italian collective at the 2016 edition of the FUNDIEXPO fair, which was held in Querétaro, October 5-7, at the Centro De Exposiciones De Queretaro exhibition grounds.
Fundiexpo is by far the most important metallurgy and foundry sector event in the Latin American country, and the world's leading suppliers of machinery and equipment to the sector participate.
The foundry industry in Mexico, for the past couple of years, has been showing positive signs of recovery and is increasingly receptive to Italian plant and technology suppliers. In fact, at the moment, Italian manufacturers occupy a leading position alongside their American and German competitors.
In 2015, Mexico's 700 or so foundries produced more than 1,750,000 tons of castings, 900,000 tons in the ferrous sector and 850,000 tons in the nonferrous sector, and increased production by more than 10 percent over 2014. 2016 is expected to close with 4 percent growth, driven by the expansion of the North American automotive sector, the main consumer of metallurgical products.
To meet the demands of the automotive sector, Mexican foundries have initiated substantial investment programs in new plants and have begun modernizing existing plants .
