European Union ambassadors highlight advantages for investments in Tamaulipas

The potential in energy, natural gas, agriculture, manufacturing and other sectors that Tamaulipas offers, is part of the reasons why the state will host in 2023 the annual meeting of ambassadors of the European Union (EU) in Mexico, to be held in late June, announced Gautier Mignot, EU ambassador in the country.

Together, the Secretary of Economic Development, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, and the Governor, Américo Villarreal Anaya, highlighted objectives for the upcoming meeting, such as the signing of agreements and contracts, as well as the attraction of new investments.

"There are many issues that make Tamaulipas stand out in the EU, for example, the generation of renewable energy, production of liquefied gas, we are interested in developing that capacity, but we also see sustainable development, education, that is why we announced that in June we will make the visit with the 19 ambassadors in Mexico, that countries like France, Germany, Spain, Poland or Italy, come, that they know what is offered, the potential that exists," Ambassador Gautier highlighted.

The Secretary of Economic Development mentioned that, prior to the ambassadors' meeting, they will work in inter-secretariat groups to review the interests of European countries in Tamaulipas and vice versa.

"In June, during the meeting of the ambassadors, we hope to have the signing of agreements, contracts, economic cooperation, investments; currently, the European Union is the third largest trading partner of the country, but the second largest investor, in the state, the numbers are positive and the competitive advantages we have are recognized," said Secretary Ninfa Cantu.

For his part, the governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal Anaya, highlighted the ports, international bridges and logistics networks that the state has to attract new investments.

"We see that the petrochemical and naval industry is the one that has been developed with more emphasis in the southern region, but we also have aspects of technology and electronics, as well as renewable energies, which we will encourage in this exchange of opportunities," said the state's chief executive.
