CUGHER & SCHOTT: High Tech Partnership In The World Of Glass
CUGHER GLASS, one of the top players in the glass technology industry, has achieved major commercial success by supplying new screen printing machines to SCHOTT, the German based leader in the flat and hollow glass market for residential, technological, optical and pharmaceutical applications.  By working with SCHOTT, CUGHER proved its ability to meet the most demanding technological needs and to communicate successfully and effectively with the different divisions and production departments of the multinational group.

SCHOTT Turkey, for example, required machinery for inline printing of very small glass whereas SCHOTT’s North American production plant, specializing in flat glass processing for the residential construction industry, required high-speed screen printing machines.
These diverse needs were met by CUGHER’s FAST series of machines. This extremely fast and high performing equipment can process glass sizes up to 800x1000 mm with a rate of 650 pcs/hr. The changeover is very quick and can be completed by a trained operator and an assisting technician in a few minutes, thanks to the self-learning system for the various glass sizes.

The machine design allows for ease of maintenance and consequently the machine downtime is reduced to a minimum.
All FAST series machines are designed to accommodate the following optional features:

1. Possibility to set different speeds for squeegee and flood bar;
2. Anti-drip system on printing carriage (squeegee / flood bar);
3. Constant pressure of squeegee and flood bar that can be selected from the control panel;
4. Easy and fast registration of the frame, with micrometric precision on all directions, including the rotation;
5. Fully mechanical off contact, easy to set and highly reliable;
6. Adjustable printing head height in accordance with glass thickness;
7. Extraction of the frame without losing records and pneumatic locking of the same;
8.Possibility to raise printing head up to 500 mm  for easy cleaning / maintenance (in total  1500 mm from the floor);
 9. Printing table of anodized and grinded aluminum with belt transport system in order to handle drilled glass as well;
10. Design and manufacturing of the nesting plates, to handle all different glass sizes;
11. Cycle time: 5.5 seconds.

Investments in Research & Development
Cugher is fully committed to investing in research and development, in order to better provide its customers with innovative and technologically advanced solutions.

Recently, Cugher increased the funding and staffing of its engineering department by 50% and added new project management resources for new R&D projects.
Glasstec & Glassbuild 2016. At the next Glasstec Exhibition, in Dusseldorf (September 2016), Cugher will unveil to the glass world its new company brand and its new stand-alone machines which have been engineered to serve the residential and construction industry specifically.  This line of stand-alone machines will complement Cugher’s fully automated lines and plants for high volume manufacturing processes such as the one in the automotive industry.
Cugher will also exhibit at Glassbuild America in Las Vegas (October 2016) where it will showcase its innovations to the North American market.
