Teamac - A member of Marchesini Group

Sectors:
Region:
Emilia Romagna
Overview:

Teamac Srl focuses on technology, experience, proficiency and on the worldwide market and the requirements of its customers. These are the ingredients for the success of Teamac, a company located in Budrio in the province of Bologna and producer of machines for packaging tea in ecological tea bags. The company became part of Marchesini Group in 2002.

In 1993, Mr. Daunisi (Eng) – in partnership with Mr. Mai Giullelmo (Eng) – a professional businessman with international experience in the packaging industry, founded Maisa Italia, which later became Teamac. The company’s experience in packaging tea derives from the business that Guillermo Mai decided to undertake, in 1974, with the aim to produce tea packaging machines at a price that also less wealthy countries could afford, such as South America or Africa. Until that time, tea could indeed only be automatically packaged by rather sophisticated and expensive machinery, which produced double chamber bags closed with a metal staple. The machines developed by Mr. Mai on the other hand packaged single chamber adhesive-sealed bags, which became enormously successful.

Subsequently, in view of the growing success of double chamber bags, Mr. Daunisi devised a machine that was not only able to produce that type of tea bag but that also offered an even higher level of innovation. Aware of the market’s increasing requirements for ecological packaging, Mr. Daunisi thus developed a truly innovative and totally ecological tea bag, made 100% of natural filter paper and closed with double knot on the same string to which the tea’s paper label is attached. This solution did away with external agents; hence, no more glue, which melts partly during infusion, no more metal staples, which cause micro anodization in the water and which dissolve in the cup of tea when prepared in a microwave.

The tea market is indeed a rather interesting one, considering that the tea packaging industry grows constantly each year by 3-4%; it is consequently one of the areas of major interest in the foodstuff packaging industry. Thanks to this acquisition, Marchesini group has become one of the four major producers of tea packaging machines for double chamber bags (75% of the market demand).
