Ecopol To Bring 130 New Jobs To Spalding Country (Atlanta, Georgia)

The Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, announced Tuesday that sustainability-focused Ecopol, a European leader in the production of biodegradable PVA film, will invest more than $38 million and create 130 new jobs at the company's first North American facility in Spalding County south of Atlanta (Georgia). Georgia is home to a large and active Italian business community, and Italy has maintained a consular presence in Georgia since 1899. A subsidiary of Italy-based Sirmax Group said its new plastics recycling facility in Anderson is now operational. SER North America said it plans to bring total employment at the $30 million plant to 40 by the end of the year. Plans for the 124,000-square-foot facility were first announced in July 2019. The company said it has already hired 25 employees with the goal of adding 15 more by the end of the year. The facility produces recycled polypropylene out of post-industrial waste.
