The Italian Trade Commission in Canada, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development and Industry Canada undertook a research project aimed at mapping and surveying the Italian companies operating in the country. Out of a combined database of over 200 subsidiaries, representing 150+ Italian investments, the survey gathered information on approximately 70 companies.

The surveyed companies employ 4,712 employees,
Generate $2,6 billion in revenue in 2014,
The total size of the investments was $503 million,
The vast majority of the subsidiaries were locate in Ontario
The vast majority of the investments were in the manufacturing industry.

Overall the total stock of investments from Italy in Canada was $ 1.3 billion in 2014, +2.2% compared to 2013, conversely the stock of Canada FDIs in Italy was $ 796 million, +17,7%.
