CIBRA Italy celebrated its 60th anniversary on March 6, 2013

The anniversary of the Italian company CRIBA has a precise reference to March 6, 1953. On that day, its founder Gennaro Cirielli patented in Milan the first sealing clamps for plastic bags.

Many things have happened in these 60 years, but the original patent and the prototype grippers (produced until the 80's) that represent their heritage have always been with them, following them in every moment that has taken them from the original small workshop in Milan to their current location in Cernusco, Naviglio industrial area.

They have been making Bag Sealers for 60 years, starting when PE was the only plastic film available, sealing to PP, BOPP, coextruded and multilayer films, bio-degradable films. Our range of bag sealers increased, and in 1968 a second product line was started to produce fully automatic bag making machines for special items such as flower bags, disposable glove bags, round bottom bags and the like.

The CRIBA company is now in the hands of the 3rd generation of the family, and they still make machines in their factory. As manufacturers, in addition to the basic range, they can supply special machines and sealing bars for special applications, they are currently facing new challenges in plastic sealing because this has always been their job, and they know what they are doing.

To celebrate their 60th anniversary they decided to donate the 1953 prototype of the sealing tongs to the Milan Museum of Science and Technology. This prestigious institution has a section dedicated to plastic materials, sponsored by Assocomaplast, the association of Italian plastic machinery manufacturers.

The museum received the donation "in the policy of acquiring a historical heritage of great importance for the history of science, technology and industry". Its small 1953 tongs have become a public heritage, managed by the Ministry of Culture, on behalf of the Italian State.
