#4 - Fall 2013
What you are about to read is the fourth edition of the Machines Italia newsletter, the latest
scheduled for this year.

Italian companies in the capital goods sector have responded well to the not easy phase
economy in recent years and, in 2013, were able to take advantage of the recovery in manufacturing
in North America, increasing exports to NAFTA. The data, albeit partial, on the
for the current year show more than encouraging growth trends: +2.5 percent for the U.S., +8.6 percent for
mexico and a surprising
+38.6 percent for Canada.

For next year, analysts expect U.S. GDP to grow by about 2.6 percent,
while, Canadian and Mexican GDP are expected to increase by 2.7 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively. The
forecast on manufacturing production indicate growth rates in line with those
of GDP growth for the three NAFTA markets.
To explain part of the reasons for a very positive result, we decided to devote the
focus column to Ontario. The Canadian province responsible for a major part of the
production of the country's GDP and which has a diversified economy, but where the manufacturing sector
is important.
2013 was also a year full of buzz and activity for the CE--Agency offices,
involved in the Machines Italia project, and there was strong interest from operators
domestic business to the United States, Mexico and Canada. For 2014, an increase in the
promotional activities aimed at helping Italian companies in the machinery sector.
Among these, I would like to point out the Machines Italia NAFTA Conferences 2014 in Toronto and the
machines Italia's participation in IndustryWeek's Best Plants 2014 next May. The two
initiatives represent unique opportunities to engage in dialogue with decision makers
north Americans and illustrate the strengths of Italian industrial technology. I suggest
contact the Chicago and Toronto offices for more information on the initiatives and
on how to participate in them.
I take this opportunity to thank our readers for their continued interest and for the
suggestions that stimulate us to improve
our editorial product constantly.

Finally, I would like to remind you to visit the Machines Italia website and register your company in the bank
database, so that you are accessible and contactable
by thousands of foreign companies.
Sincerely, Pasquale Bova
Director, ICE--Agency Canada
