At the invitation of the Italian Trade Agency and UCIMU – Sistemi per produrre (Italy’s machine tool, robots, automation systems and ancillary products (NC, tools, components, accessories) manufacturers' association), I joined six representatives of Canadian manufacturing companies on a visit to Lamiera in May. Lamiera is Italy’s metal forming tradeshow, which was being held for the first time in Milan (it was previously held in Bologna).

The Italian Trade Commission Los Angeles (USA) in collaboration with Speed News, recently conducted its study on the global awareness of Italian solution providers in the aviation industry with the following objectives:
•Investigate awareness levels of Italian machinery for the aviation industry.
•Determine perception of manufacturing equipment from various countries.
•Examine aspects important in machine purchases, as well as purchases planned for the near future.
Over 150 manufacturers within the industry completed this study.
23 food processors, 8 from Canada and 15 from the US, participated to the first edition of Cibustec Market Outlook North America, that took place in Parma, Italy, from May 21 to 24, 2013. The event consisted of a program of facility visits to processing plants located in the region, B2B meetings with Italian machinery and technology providers, workshops on subjects and topics specific for the North American food industry.
