Italian Innovation: Mapei to Co-Sponsor International Certification Event at Surfaces 2013

Surfaces 2013 taking place January 28-31, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the annual floor covering event, which puts thousands of retailers, distributors, installers, designers and home builders face-to-face for the industry leading networking, educating, and product sourcing trade show. This year Surfaces hosts a historic event, as International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI) puts together a CFI Certification team to conduct an international Carpet Certification training on the showroom floor. Allowing installers to save over $600, Surfaces offers a special price of $495 per attendee, allowing flooring installers to test in two categories: CFI Carpet Residential I and Commercial I.

The two-day training includes a PowerPoint Presentation, written tests and presentations, and oral reviews by the sponsors, with a major focus on hands-on skills workshops. Two-years of active installations experience must be submitted with proof to apply for certification. Training includes teaching techniques such as substrate preparation, stair upholstery without staples, avoiding seam problems, and most importantly professionalism and customer satisfaction. Having trained over 49,000 members of the flooring community since 1993, CFI holds high standards and will award certifications only to installers who have achieved all required levels of training, and who pass a written test.

The event is sponsored by Best Tape, Healthier Choice Cushion, Duo-Fast, Personna, QEP, TRAXX, Wagner Meters, and Italian manufacturer Mapei. Mapei will be participating in both the trade show and the training workshop at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. Investing 5% of annual sales revenue each year into research development of new products, Mapei remains a leader of the pack with innovative development of flooring installation and concrete restoration products. Mapei serves as a great asset to the sponsoring team, and will be unique in their training with forward thinking technology such as their BioBlock, FastTrack Ready, Low-Dust, and Ultralite Technology.
