BIAT 2020 - Innovation and High Technology Exchange - Digital Edition
BIAT - Borsa dell'Innovazione e dell'Alta Tecnologia is one of the flagship initiatives of the Export South Plan 2 (PES2), a wide-ranging project launched by the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) to support companies based in the so-called less developed regions (Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sicily) and regions in transition (Abruzzo, Molise and Sardinia). The event is organized by ICE Agency in cooperation with the Regions and other local bodies and institutions.

BIAT is aimed, in particular, at technology startups and SMEs and its goal is to foster the development and commercialization of products and services with a high innovation content by creating an opportunity for Italian companies to meet investors, large companies, incubators, accelerators and foreign multinationals .

The event so divided into 3 distinct moments:
  • Collection and selection of Italian projects and companies, training and consulting sessions to enable participants to perfect communication techniques and the presentation of projects to international operators, technical assistance on intellectual propertỳ patenting and licensing;
  • Scouting and invitation to the event of potential counterparts in relevant foreign countries. Matching activities;
  • Participation in the networking event, b2b meetings and plenary session;

Sectors involved are biotechnology, green economy, circular economy, renewable energy and environment, ict, innovative materials, nanotechnology, smart city technologies.
The 2020 edition of BIAT was held from December 9 to 11, 2020 on Fiera 365, ICE Agenzia's new virtual event platform.
Nearly 100 Italian startups were admitted to BIAT 2020 and met with international delegates from 26 countries-Austria, Belgium, China, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, India, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Machines Italia Canada invited a delegation of venture capitalists and angel investors to attend the event, including: Kanata VC, Panache VC, NACO - National Angels Capital Organization, Intergen Connect, Vitaliz, Canadina International Capital, Eliquimedia, CVCA - Canadian Venture CapitalAssociation, Scale UP Ventures, DealPoint.
