PLAST breaks up the 3 years cycle with the next PLAST being held September 26 - 30, 2017, instead of May 8 - 12, 2018. The show will then continue on its usual triennal frequency. This is the big news announced on the first day of the exhibition. NPE moving from the month of March to May 7-11, 2018, as well as the overlapping with FEIPLASTIC this year, has surely affected such decision but not crucially. Italy Invests in the US: M&G Group to Open Facility in Corpus Christi, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI - Governor Rick Perry announced today that a M&G Group, a PET resin manufacturer, has chosen Corpus Christi for its latest plant. According to a news release, "the expansion is expected to create at least 250 direct jobs at the facility, and generate several millions in capital investment." Amut SpA Acquires Comer Engineering

Italian machinery maker Amut has acquired Comer Engineering, which manufactures sorting and treatment lines, to create Amut Ecotech . Amut says the acquisition will allow it expand its product range so will offer lines that can be placed upstream of its own products for washing and recycling thermoplastics. Comer Engineering is based in Maserada sul Piav, Italy, and manufactures equipment for sorting urban waste, plastics and E&E waste. Amut says the new firm has already received orders worth €10m.

Italian Plastic & Rubber Machinery Sales Exceed Expectations

The Italian plastics and rubber machinery and equipment manufacturers association Assocomaplast said the sector saw production value increase by more than 9% in 2010 - higher than the 8% growth figure predicted in December last year. The association says overall production value, according to information from its 170 members, increased 9.1% to €3.6bn. “All five of the main indicators for the sector reveal decidedly positive trends, recovering the losses suffered in 2009 compared with the record year 2008,” says Assocomaplast. Imports increased 17.2% to €567m, while exports went up 9.7% to €2bn
