University of Guelph Students Awarded the Italian Packaging Technology Awards 2014 for Canada

Matthew James and Yin Li, graduate PHD students at the School of Engineering at the University of Guelph, in Ontario, were the two Canadian recipients of the Italian Packaging Technology Awards (IPTA) 2014.  The IPTA program is organized by the Italian Trade Commission, through its Machines Italia project, in collaboration with UCIMA, the Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association.  Mr. James and Mr. Li were rewarded with a one-week trip to Italy, accompanied by their Professor, Doctor Stefano Gregori.  The trip took place from June 30 to July 6 2014.  The program of the trip included in class seminars on such subjects as the "Italian Way of Doing Industry" and the "Lean Factory Lab",  offered by the prestigious LIUC University in Varese, as well as site visits of packaging operations throughout Italy. Among the participating Italian companies: GoglioCavannaEasysnap, Marchesini and Sacmi.  The Ferrari Museum and Facility in Maranello were also part of the trip.
